Created the Cleo application that involved over 30 thousand lines of C code for the opensource tool ethereal. Provided extensive debugging of the DCE/DFS protocol, and a backend database. Work in role of Senior Systems Administration Led project to deploy Tivoli monitoring across the IBM Global Services Austin site. Wrote custom Tivoli monitors to various resources for the Austin IBM Global Services site. Held meetings to organize, and plan the deployment of Tivoli for monitoring, and software distribution. Configured, and setup Apache for use in a AFS/DFS environment. Wrote fixes to resolve problems with hung processes, and performance. Worked with Samba on AFS/DFS to resolve performance issues, and bottlenecks. Implemented Samba for group access to a network printer. Worked with AIX development on multiple occasions to resolve issues with kernel level problems on DFS servers. Provided dumps, applied fixes. Managed, and setup up a backup policy for the call center, to insure proper backups of critical servers, and workstations. Setup an SQL database to keep records of the pertinent backup information for later retrieval through web based interface. Designed and implemented a center wide paging server, that would be responsible for sending out digital, and alphanumeric pages, from various clients use center wide. Setup and evaluation of a new Java call center application. Worked with developers to test and implement the replacement for the primary call center application. Helped size the application to hardware, and provided direction on local implementation of the application. Also provided consultation to management on procedures for deployment, and local requirements for the new application. Maintained VSI-fax server for call center. Provided changes, and regular maintenance of the software. Setup, and maintained Tivoli Netview for management of our servers, and workstations. Automated procedure to page out on various server errors. Used the application to help diagnose network latency problems, and server availability. Provided general problem solving skills on a day to day basis for various server, and application problems. Maintained Sun Sparc/20 running Solaris 2.4 that provided call center statistics. Setup AFS/DFS on client machines that required it. Helped implement a major call center application, sized the needs of hardware and provided initial feedback to management, and developers on the status of the Java application. Assisted customers in installing, and setting up their dial-up clients. June 1996 to September 1996 Computer Access Built complete computer systems to customer request. Trouble-shot PC problems with customers, and returned defective products to their manufacturer, RMA. January 1992 to January 1996 US Air Force Enlisted into the USAF as a Cryptologic Linguist. Was stationed at Kelly AFB, San Antonio Texas. Worked for the Air Force Intelligence Agency. Was trained at the Defense Language Institute, DLI, in Monterey CA for Spanish. Trained in Unix computer systems and other software that was required for the job. Maintained a Top Secret / SCI Clearance for 4 years. Was moved into Unix Administration in February of 1994. Provided low level administration for a SunOS / Solaris network. Maintained logs of equipment failures, and up-times. Regularly provided system backups of the workstations. Wrote UNIX scripts to accumulate statistics that were used by management. Tested new applications on the Solaris workstations.
