Overview

Changes

• RPM
• Fixed the source RPMS so that they can be rbuilt without overwriting the current installed version
• Changed the arch dependencies in the RPM with an eye towards the future.
• Changed the provides and requires to reflect the new nameing
• Unified the RPM naming convention in preperation to support glibc
• Removed duplicate files in the RPMS and tried to fix the file overwiting. For example ld.so was in two seperate RPMs
• Added revision history.
• Added clean target
• Added CFLAGS use of the rpmrc flags.
• Built a SRPM for em86-fx to allow for new versioning. (No real source here)

• Added compile target toc compile against both glibc 2.0 and glibc 2.1
• Fixed calling parameters for the following syscalls:
  

  stime	chown	chmod	utime
  rename	mkdir	signal	ioctl
  chroot	sigprocmask	sigsuspend	symlink
  readlink	swapon	swapoff	ipc
  getdents	getsid

• Added a new -DSPEED argument to remove all checks for debugging
• -DSPEED argument assumes intel applications are not broken a lot
• Made source build tables for errno, signal, and ipo tables in case someone makes a large change to the intel files.
• Started commenting and reformatting the source code.
• Rebuilt the Makefile to make my life easier.
• Fixed a errno mapping fault.
• Made signals, errnos, and others danamicly mapped.

• Reworked code to make it ANSI complient.
• Reworked the compile options

Installation Steps

Upgradeing from 4.0

1. Download the base RPM packages
• em86-2.2-1.alpha.rpm
• em86-libc-x86-0.2-0.noarch.rpm
• em86-libc-base-libs-2.2-0.noarch.rpm
2. Uninstall the old RPM packages
• rpm -qa | grep em86 | xargs -i echo {}
• Verify this generates a correct list.
• rpm -qa | grep em86 | xargs -i rpm -e --nodeps {}
3. Install the base RPM packages in the following order
• rpm -Uh em86-2.2-1.alpha.rpm
• rpm -Uh em86-libc-x86-2.2-0.noarch.rpm
• rpm -Uh em86-libc-base-libs-2.2-0.noarch.rpm
4. Download and install the optional packages

Upgradeing from 2.2-0

1. Download the base RPM packages
• em86-2.2-1.alpha.rpm
2. Install the new base RPM package
• rpm -Uh em86-2.2-1.alpha.rpm
3. Download and install the optional packages

Kernel Patches

The later versions of 2.0.x and all of 2.2.x and 2.3.x no longer require kernel patches to run EM86. Don't forget to turn on EM86 or/and MISC binary support in the kernel when compiling the kernel.
